Iphone short film: Zombie Case Study

What is the source of the text?
The source of the text is an article on how two men put together a short film using only a Iphone 4s and their imagination. The iphone 4s special effects were the only accessories used in this short film and was enough to make a adequate, even enjoyable, short film.

What are the key points?
The key points are that this film was the first short film to be captured on phone.By seeing how great the production is it shows how advance technology has become especially if short films can be created successfully from a phone. The creativity in this short film is a significant key point as it saves the makers money very cleverly without editing anything significant.

Choose one quote to remember?
"Two friends use an iphone to document a zombie Apocalypse"

What are your opinions on the subject matter?

I believe that using a phone to create a short film is create and amazing as it really does highlight how advance technology is when you think that only 6 years ago the public were introduced to something as simple as camera and bluetooth. The only negativity of this short film is that people believe they can create a film purely because they have a camera therefore diminishing the quality and importance of film making.

American Beauty

American beauty is a classical drama movie directed by Sam mendes and written by Alan ball. this epic story consists of a family living in the suburbs of American town. this fantastic tale shows he audience how life of an adult can be and how meek and dull it can become, American beauty focuses on high lighting society issues through the film and how they affect the average American citizen's life martial problems, job entrapment and unhappiness. the main character Lester meets his daughter's friend Angela and becomes enamoured with her lighting a fuse within himself that leads to drastic changes which the audience see as the film commences, along the way the protagonist in this amazing film realises his life and marriage is a failure along with his relationship with his daughter is gone therefore he decides to do something about his shattered gloomy life leading him to live his American dream which is symbolised through him buying the car he always wanted quiting his job etc. the eccentric enamouring he has for Angela progresses as it pushes Lester to work out after overhearing a conversation about him between his daughter and Angela and angela prefering men with 'muscles' this then gave lester the drive to make himself more fit and healthy showing the audience the effect she has on him, even though this type of attention from lester towards angela is considered wrong it just indicates how lonely and desperate for attention he feels.Lester's daughter creates a oddlly and emotionally bonding relationship with the boy next door ricky which shows the symbolism of beatuty in life through the most mundane things i.e a plastic bag blowing through the wind.

The hobbit is being advertised greatly my many articles talking about the upcoming film. camera shots

This camera shot in inglorious bastards is called a establish shot which allows for the current scene in the film to be set and shown to the audience as the scene can trigger a emotional response from the audience such as wariness, anticipation and hesitation etc.

this is a mid close up shot from my boy jack which shows the audience jacks determined eagerness to start training in the army to the audience, by allowing the audience to see jack's posture from his rigid shoulders and mused tie the audience can deduce that this moment is significant for the character jack henceforth will be significant for the film and consequentially to the audience.

This is a a extreme close up shot used in harry potter and the deathly hallows part 1, this camera shot occurs at the first shot of the opening scene which is significant as this shot emits  powerful emotions to the audience which was the aim as only the eyes are shown to convey what the character is thinking and feeling to the audience. As the emotions such as fear, helplessness and solemness  are shown at the very beginning of this film through this extreme close up it also sets a wary anticipated feeling of foreboding within the audience.

This is a birds eye view canted shot used in harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2. this shot allows the audience to see the two character's body language is relaxed and comfortable, with each other and their surroundings henceforth showing the relationship between these two characters making this camera shot significant for the film's plot.

This camera shot from lethal weapons  is called a eye level shot which means that the audience is sharing the same point of view as the character, which can let the audience connect strongly with the character and what they are feeling at that point of the movie. This eye level shot shows the audience that the character is eye level with a gun henceforth making the audience feel scared for the main character's predicament.

This shot from the hunger games is a long mid shot of one of the main characters running. This shot effectively portrays the chaos occurring around him by having the chaotic background blurred and having the camera focused in on him, as his panic determined face intensifies the chaotic environment for the audience to see and feel through his facial expressions and his body language.

This camera shot is a worms eye view of will smith in bad boys 2. This worms eye view camera shot shows the audience will smith's dominance at this moment in the film it allows the audience to see his status as a powerful formidable police officer therefore the audience immediately knows that he is going to be a significant role in the film and therefore is respected

Batman teaser game

This article is from the website filmindustries and it is based on how the film industry created and used a taster game to keep the audience in anticipation of a upcoming film. The key point created in this article is that games can be a great way to advertise a popular up coming film, especially if the genre of the movie is action based. The key point of the game was to get the audience to interact with the film. This quote from the article “provide fans bonuses such as exclusive content, trailers, images from the film” is significant as the film industry supplies  these type of bonuses to the audience to keep their interest in the film and to gain favour with the public which is important as without a audience there isn't a successful movie. I believe that making a small game to appease the wait for the film for the audience is a great way to gain a positive response for the film’s reputation.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 opening scene review

The opening of harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2 takes the audience to where harry potter and the deathly hallows part 1 finished, at Dumbledore’s grave which the main villain (voldemort) has just breached and raided. The lighting is used in this particular scene to create the feeling of dread and anticipation for what is about to unfold as well as to symbolise the significance of the event occurring. The lighting emits a dark eerie ambience in the scene which intensifies once voldemort handles the elder wand. Creating the impression to the audience that this character is dark dangerous and formidable more than ever, leading the audience to feel dread and anticipation to what malevolence he may show next.

A close up shot was used to show the grave of someone deceased which occurred in the previous film. The close up was used to create a sense of regret and mourning amongst the audience. The close up allows the audience to see the details put on the grave which says ‘here lies dobby a free elf’ which insinuates to the audience that dobby was a ‘good guy’ and therefore getting the audience to feel sorry for the elf. The choice of using a direct close up shot of the grave headstone was also to create awareness to the audience on the theme of the film: war

The opening of harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2 takes the audience to a isolated Hogwarts surrounded by dementors, (evil characters). The mid-en-scene has included a long shot of Hogwarts to include the dementors to explain to the audience the grim circumstances that with occur in the film henceforth preparing the audience to feel the despair and dread that could possibly result from these grim circumstances such as death. This long shot allows the audience to see that dementors are surrounding Hogwarts, sending the impression that Hogwarts is being oppressed and controlled. This affects the audience as it will trigger a sense of indignation and pity from the viewers. The bleak misty weather surrounding Hogwarts that is caught in this direct long distance camera shot also indicates to the audience how they should be feeling about what is happening, suggesting then that they should feel anticipation however also gloom from the depressing formidable weather purposefully shown to affect the audience in this way.

The Terminator

the opening of terminator takes the audience to a desolate los angeles of the future. the editing is fast paced to create a feeling of displacement and turmoil.in the scene where swarchenegger faces the gang we see cuts from a switchblade, to actor, to hand, to villian falling, but what we dont see is the blade going into the antagonist.the editing creates the impression that the 'hero' is quick thinking and physically powerful.already the audience feel swarchenegger is superior in tactics compared to those he will meet in the narrative
